The race of panda-people. They have a perfect sense of direction. They have an affinity for water. The only kind of magic they can do is water magic. They worship a hierarchial, matriarchial pantheon of gods and goddesses. They believe the powers that be are generally distant and uninvolved in their lives. Their government is a representative democracy that is corrupt. They completely control an ocean-base country.
Hmmm...lotta water coming up in this description. I figure they'd interact with the water A LOT, hence the clothing design. Note the flood boots on the one in the foreground, and the complete lack of flowy materials and long sleeves. Also, the water mage is in blue - getting really into it - whereas the others wear mainly earthtone colours. They like their territory, they do.
Because they're so in touch with their natural environs, they tend not to stir it up much. They haven't made too many alterations to the terrain, sticking to the simplest technologies possible. They get on just fine in nature - the lighthouse up there is more for tourists and imports than the locals' purposes. I figure they'd be interested in trade because they're curious but they don't want to muck up their environs. Ship it in from elsewhere, I guess.
They believe higher powers, but don't particularly care too much about it, so I didn't put anything divine in the picture.
Their government is a representative democracy that is corrupt, but then again, so is that of any other country I've been to. So, again, nothing would show up in that world. I doubt these territory-loving pandas would want to plaster their land with election posters either (well, maybe on the sides of buildings....but being so close to the ocean, they don't get many tall trees right on the coast).
You know what would look weird? Panda video game controllers. Due to the placement of their thumbs, it would have to be a totally different design.
