First, let me begin with another question I have been struggling with. It's related, I promise. The question is:

Why is it important to be happy?

Every emotion is more or less of the same value, right? It's either good or it's bad, deviating from our usual disposition in whichever direction it may. It's happy, or sad, or angry, or whatever...Why does it matter if an experience is positive or negative? Beyond the experience of the individual, does one's happiness actually affect the world at large?
