The Deathbot by CaptainQuirk The Deathbot by CaptainQuirk
Voila!

If you participated in NaNoWriMo this year, and you spent any time at all in the Toronto chapter's chatroom, then you know what this is - and are hopefully giggling.

But for the uninitiated...

That fellow up on the monitor is our very own dear Errol, a major personality in Toronto NaNo. He's loud, he's cool, and he can take a joke (to the point of initiating them himself even if it's at his own expense). It became a running gag for people to kill Errol-based characters in their NaNo novels.

Then this year, another Toronto WriMo by the name of smlangley programmed an IRC bot that would, upon the command "kill errol" or "errol die" or some permutation thereof... come up with a creative death for poor Errol. All in good fun! Gory, but all in good fun. Listen to Errol interviewing smlangley here.

So the creative folks of ToNaNo chat got to wondering what the deathbot looks like. Myself included. Here's my take.

The bag of oranges and the narwhal are references to various Errol deaths. Now you know.

Teehee. That's fantastic.

I love that he's got a picture of Errol on his face. Brilliant my dear, completely and wholly BRILLIANT.

I have a convention to go to on Sunday, so Saturday is okay if it's not too late.

Oh, wait a sec. I forgot to ask. Do you want to come with us? (It's mostly WriMos in our group - than and this convention is actually affordable).
